Following our recent acquisition of ArtStation and Sketchfab, KitBash is experiencing significant growth, which generates a steady stream of work that does not yet have a clear owner: a legal question that needs to be answered before a decision can be made; a process that needs to be designed before anyone has been assigned to run it; a system that needs to be built before it is clear which team should maintain it.

About the Role

We're hiring a Strategy & Operations Associate to help us scale more effectively and sustainably. This role reports directly to the COO with broad visibility across the business, and exists to pick up the projects, questions, and systems that don't yet have a home and carry each through to a working, repeatable process, then transition it to the team best positioned to own it going forward.

This is a growth role. You'll start by taking ownership of discrete, well-defined work-streams where you can build credibility and get oriented in how KitBash operates. Over your first 6-9 months, you'll ramp into broader project and program management, taking on more ambiguous, cross-functional initiatives as your judgment and context develop.

If you're the person who figures things out, digs into an unfamiliar problem, delivers a clear recommendation, and can execute independently this role is designed to grow with you.

Location: This position can be remote or hybrid and is open to US candidates. Local candidates have the option to work out of our office located in Portland, Oregon.

What You'll Contribute

Broadly, this role spans four areas, in roughly this order of emphasis as you ramp:

• Legal & Compliance Support: First-draft contracts from templates, time-sensitive legal/regulatory research, and privacy review support for planned product or process changes.
• Documentation, Process Design & Automation: Learning new systems and processes quickly, translating them into clear SOPs, and identifying opportunities to automate recurring work, drafting rollout communications and training materials, and driving actual adoption of new processes and systems across teams, not just documenting them.
• Data, Reporting & Analysis: Partnering with the COO on internal reporting infrastructure, keeping reporting current with functional data owners, and running ad hoc analysis for time-sensitive decisions.
• Project & Program Management: Leading cross-functional projects that require coordinating stakeholders across departments, supporting the business integration work across KitBash's four brands, owning adoption of the changes those projects introduce, and making sure new ways of working actually stick.
  

Your day-to-day mix across these areas will shift as you grow into the role.

How the Role Grows

The specific work in this role will always be shaped by whatever KitBash needs most at the time: that's the nature of the job. What should change predictably is your level of ownership and autonomy as you build context. Here's what that progression looks like:

By 3 months: Owning discrete, assigned pieces of work You're taking on defined projects and workstreams handed off by the COO — contract drafting and legal/regulatory research, vendor research and evaluation, a piece of a documentation or process-design effort, a slice of reporting or ad hoc analysis — and running them to completion with guidance on approach and stakeholders. You're not yet expected to identify the work yourself, but you should own it fully once it's yours.

By 6 months: Working autonomously across the full scope of the role You're operating independently across legal support, process design, reporting, and project management, with less need for guidance on how to approach a given piece of work or who to involve. You're leading cross-functional projects end-to-end rather than owning pieces of them, and the COO is handing you more ambiguous, less-scoped problems because you've shown you can figure out the shape of the work yourself.

By 12 months: Proactively identifying and driving opportunities The clearest signal you're ready for the next step: you're not just executing well on what's handed to you, you're surfacing problems and opportunities before anyone asks (spotting a process that needs fixing, a system that needs an owner, a risk that needs flagging) and bringing solutions, not just observations. At this point you're operating as a genuine extension of the COO's judgment across the business, and depending on how the business and you have developed, there may be an opportunity to take on direct oversight of a future hire, intern, or vendor relationship.

What You Bring to the Team

• 2+ years of experience in a role with meaningful contribution or ownership of projects, processes, or operations, with demonstrated ability to work independently in a professional setting.
• Strong research skills with the ability to investigate an unfamiliar legal, policy, or business question and produce a clear, actionable recommendation.
• Strong project management and organizational instincts, with the ability to manage multiple unrelated workstreams concurrently.
• Advanced proficiency in Excel or Google Sheets, including formula-based modeling and analysis.
• Contract drafting or review experience.
• High general proficiency with computers and technical systems.

All candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship now or in the future.

Bonus Points

• Working knowledge of Python, App Script, or other scripting/automation tools.
• Experience with SQL.

What We Offer

• Competitive compensation: We believe in transparency and fairness in our hiring process. This position has an annualized market-based salary range of $65,000 - $80,000. Additionally, this position is eligible for profit interest units as part of our total compensation package. Offers will generally fall within this range and take into account various factors including the responsibilities of the position, location of the applicant, experience, skill set, internal pay equity, and other relevant qualifications of the applicant.
